We’ve Built Something Strong

And It Started With Service

I want to start with someone who has shaped my life. My mom, Stephanie. If you know her and you're under 60, she probably acts like your mom too. She loves you, she loves our community.

Stephanie McCaffrey

She was born in San Francisco in 1942, raised in Santa Clara, graduated from Santa Clara High in 1960, and went on to San Jose State where she earned a degree in accounting. She married my dad, Michael, in 1964, and together they built a life centered around family and service.

Service has always been a constant in her life.

In the 60s and 70s, she marched for women’s rights. In the mid 1970s, she was involved in oversight efforts around nuclear power. She went on to serve as President of the O’Connor Hospital Guild, helping raise over one million dollars to build a mammography radiology lab. She was President of the Saratoga Butter Paddle, raising funds to create a home that supported at risk boys who needed a safe place between placements.

Here in Tuolumne County, she served as President of the Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau, now Visit Tuolumne. She was President of Soroptimist, supporting women and girls locally and around the world. And she has been a member of the Twain Harte Chamber of Commerce for more than 30 years.

She’s All In always. That is who she is. Someone who shows up. Someone who gives back. Someone who believes that being part of a community means taking responsibility for it.

What She Taught Me

Growing up around that kind of example leaves a bit of an impression (to say the least). You learn that service is not something you talk about. It is something you do. You learn that leadership is not about being seen. It is about walking the walk. You learn that the work matters more than the recognition. And that the community always comes first.

That‘s how I was raised. And that is a big part of why I chose to run for District Supervisor. Because we need leadership that is grounded in service. Someone who has conviction, strong community awareness, a genuine commitment to the people who live here. and the willingness to do the work.

We’ve Built Something Strong

It is just shy of a year since I first announced this campaign. A year of conversations. A year of showing up. A year of listening. And when I look around now, one thing is clear. We have built something strong.

You can see it across the county. Signs in yards. Conversations happening everywhere. People reaching out, asking how they can help, letters to the editor, endorsements from community members in every district. But it has never been about that. It has always been about the people behind them.

This Is What Community Looks Like

So many of you have stepped up. That is not just support. That is engagement. That is a community choosing to be involved. And those voices are the strongest endorsement there is.

When someone tells a friend why they are voting for something, that carries weight. That is how this momentum continues to build.

And that is powerful. Because those voices are the strongest endorsement there is.

How I see it? When someone tells a friend why they are voting for something, that carries more weight than anything else. I listen to the people I trust.

Why This Has Worked

This campaign has never been about noise. It has never been about division. It has been about showing up, listening, and focusing on what actually matters.

Fire and emergency preparedness, senior support, responsible budgeting, jobs, housing and tourism. Real issues. Real conversations. Real people. And when you stay grounded in that, people respond.

We can feel it now.

What Matters Now

Because at this stage, it is not about awareness. It is about action.
